Human evolution is grinding to a halt because of a shortage of older fathers in the West, according to a leading genetics expert.Damn...and here I was hoping my great- great- great- great- great- great- grandchildren would be able to fly and read minds.
Fathers over the age of 35 are more likely to pass on mutations, according to Professor Steve Jones of University College London.
Speaking Tuesday at a UCL lecture entitled "Human Evolution Is Over," Professor Jones will argue that there were three components to evolution — natural selection, mutation and random change.

I should really read this first, but it occurred to me that human evolution would have stopped generations ago... when the biological pressure cooker was taken off the burner by applied technology. The subtleties of social pressures not withstanding, natural selection needs HUGE forces at play. We've been able to keep that out of the equation for generations. If anything, the fact that Bill Gates can score a hot looking wife proves that we might be DEVOlving in some ways.
