The final straw came the other week when Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher (a.k.a Joe the Plumber) asked a question about higher taxes for small businesses. Instead of celebrating his aspirations, they were mocked.Welcome to the club, Wendy. I registered as a Democrat when I turned 18 in 1977. The last Democrat I voted for was Bill Clinton in 1992.

The party I believed in wouldn’t look down on working people under any circumstance. And Joe the Plumber is right. This is the absolutely worst time to raise taxes on anyone: the rich, the middle class, the poor, small businesses and corporations.

But here we are about a week out and it’s déjà vu all over again. Really, front-page news is how the Republican National Committee paid for Governor Sarah Palin’s wardrobe?

Obama speechwriter, HuffPo blogger voting McCain
Caught this item over at Ace of Spades. Like Ace says, this won't get as much play in the press as the Christopher Buckley and Colin Powell defections, but I think this one actually carries even more weight. Wendy Button, an Obama speechwriter and (almost certainly former) Huffington Post blogger, has grown disgusted with the Obama machine and the Democratic party ... and will be voting for John McCain.

You voted for Clinton?
You are dead to me.
Yeah, well I'm pretty sure you've voted for a Democrat much more recently than I, even if it was Joe Lieberman.
