Scandal v. anti-scandal

Holy crap. I turn away from the news long enough to get a new refrigerator set up and turn around to find out that Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant.

So is this a matter/anti-matter scenario where the rumor of Palin faking her pregnancy to cover up for her daughter's own pregnancy is negated by the anti-scandal of Bristol's actual pregnancy?

Update: Hot Air quotes a New York Post article which says the crap being tossed around by the liberal blogs was the very reason for releasing the news today, but read Allahpundit's whole post for his analysis. From the Post article:
McCain officials said the news of the daughter's pregnancy was being released to rebut what one aide called "mud-slinging and lies" circulating on liberal blog sites.

To me the most surprising part is that the McCain camp knew this before she was selected.

I would think this is the kind of information Palin would have volunteered at the time. I don't think the questionnaire the McCain campaign sent her asked "Oh, by the way...is your teen daughter pregnant?"
