Honor By August

Went with Ms. Pool Bar and the Daughter Unit to see Honor By August last night at the Colonial Tavern here in Fredericksburg. This was something like the fourth time in the past 10 months or so I've seen them there, and each time they've put on a brilliant show. They perform almost all original material with a cover thrown in here and there. But it's their original music that attracts the crowds. Local saxophonist Young Deveraux joined them for a few tunes during the second set, and as always added great color to those numbers.

The song in the video is "Only In Photographs" which is one of my personal favorites. According to the YouTube page, it was recorded around 2 years ago at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. I actually think they've improved the song greatly since then and their current rendition is even better.

If you get a chance to see them at a bar near you, don't miss it. It's probably only a matter of time before they're playing much larger, less personal venues.
