With John McCain surging in the polls (to varying degrees), the chattering classes in Britain have started their drumbeat of warnings to the American public not to elect McCain over Barack Obama. Hot Air linked this column in their headlines last night in which Jonathan Freedland of the Guardian (natch) warns that if Obama is defeated, "the world's verdict will be harsh".
I saw an online version of the Mirror's front page from the 2004 election shown above, and it captures perfectly the Euopean attitude towards Americans in general. In their eyes, something like half (or more) of all Americans are Cletus the slack-jawed yokel from the Simpsons.
You know what Jonathan? Fuck you. When you guys elect an unqualified ethnic minority with close associates in the IRA and a few years in the House of Lords, half of which were spent running for Prime Minister, then you can lecture us. Until then, piss off, as my British buddies are fond of saying.

Well if they feel that way let sombody else protect their asses.
We should pull out of NATO and let Russia threaten them.

Sorry it's hard to type and spell while listeing to "MAPK LEVIN"
The world's verdict will be harsh? HARSH? For an ELECTION?
I suppose that when the Palestinians elected a HAMAS government, the world's verdict was harsh. When the Iranians elected Imadinnerjacket, the verdict was harsh. And when the Russians elected Putin's meat puppet, the world's verdict was harsh.
Except it wasn't. Silly me.
Maybe we've identified a new illness: America Derangement Syndrom.
Piss off Rick. When you guys? What's with you guys. Two left wing papers, two journos and your response is you guys? Meaning all of us of course. Get a grip! Meanwhile who was it who stepped up to the plate in Iraq and Afghanistan? We can damn well 'lecture' away whilst we have guys coming back in body bags over decisions your lords and master make. Yeah - harsh.
Relax, Alison. That's not addressed to Brits in general but to your left wingers, who are every bit as bad as ours.
