Walking on water

No, I'm not referring to Barack Obama. Vacationing this week in North Carolina (the obligatory light posting excuse), I went out on the deck this morning and spotted a guy who looked like he was standing on (not in) the surf sweeping with a broom. On closer inspection, he was standing on a surf board with what looked like a canoe paddle and was on his way out to do a little stand-up paddle surfing. What amazed me was the guy never seemed to fall down. He'd ride a wave, then just turn around and start paddling back out again.

I'd never heard of this particular variation on surfing, but I guess it takes time for word to spread from Hawaii to the east coast.
