Time's Person of the Year: Vladimir Putin

Time Magazine has named Russian president Vladimir Putin Person of the Year. Not for being the evil, neo-Soviet commie bastard that he is, but for this:
The 2007 honor went to the Russian leader because of Putin's "extraordinary feat of leadership in taking a country that was in chaos and bringing it stability," said Richard Stengel, Time's managing editor.
I guess by "stability" they mean "tightening his iron grip of tyranny and crushing dissent".
